You are invited to our annual Ladies Only IL and Utah Concealed Carry class (sorry guys, this class is for ladies only). We will be holding the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course on Saturday 4/20/19. This class teaches the student how to safely shoot a handgun. Then on the following Saturday 4/27/19, we will be conducting the 2nd 8 hours of the IL Concealed Carry class.

If you merely want to learn to safely shoot a handgun without obtaining your concealed carry license, you can attend the Basic Pistol Shooting Course on Saturday 4/20/19 without taking the 2nd 8 hours on the following Saturday. However, to qualify for your concealed carry license, you will need to take both days.

As always, snacks and drinks, along with lunch at noon will be provided free of charge.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course (Instructor Led)

Basics of Pistol Shooting is a one day course intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. This is the traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. After having taken this course, one will be eligible to take the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor course, whereby you will be eligible to become an Illinois Concealed Carry Instructor.

NRA Instructor Basic Pistol

NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Course is a 10 hour course (if the 6 hour BIT taught the previous day is not needed)  that teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.

Prerequisite: NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course, NRA BIT (included in the $250.00 fee). Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire.

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course

Basic Rifle Shooting Course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.

Instructor Rifle Shooting Course

This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Rifle Shooting course.

Prerequisite: Completion of the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course is a perquisite for certification in this course. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.

The cost of the 16 hour Instructor course = $250.00

NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course

Basic Shotgun Shooting Course includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.

NRA Defensive Pistol Class

You’ve had your basic training and obtained your concealed carry license. Now take your defensive gun handling to a new level. Most of the class will be spent on the range doing defensive pistol exercises.

The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.

NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course

 Friday  2019

8:00 am to 4:00 pm

This course is eight hours in length and is conducted in a classroom. Each student is taught reloading safety; centerfire cartridge components; using the reloading manual and reloading data; equipment; and the metallic cartridge reloading process. Students will receive the NRA Guide to Reloading handbook, the Basic Reloading Student Exam, a course completion certificate, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure and a Course Evaluation form.

Instructor of Metallic Cartridge Reloading

Prerequisites: Candidates must complete the NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading course student examination with a score of 90% or better and perform pre-course assessments that demonstrate basic knowledge, skills and safe handling procedures for reloading metallic cartridges.
Description: Course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor Candidate Packet, and NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading course student packet.

NRA Refuse to Be a Victim Seminar

This is not a firearms instruction course, and does not include instruction in physical combat self-defense. Seminars teach common weaknesses that criminals may take advantage of, and a variety of corrective measures that are practical, inexpensive and easy to follow. The seminar includes classroom instruction on criminal psychology, automobile crimes; cyber safety, home security, and a variety of crime prevention strategies including carjack avoidance techniques, use of personal safety devices, and more. Students receive the Refuse To Be A Victim® student handbook, NRA Refuse To Be A Victim® brochure, NRA Become A Refuse To Be A Victim® Instructor Brochure, Refuse To Be A Victim® Firearms Supplement, and a course completion certificate.

NRA Refuse to Be a Victim Instructor Development Workshop

Women and men interested in becoming Refuse To Be A Victim® instructors attend a one- to two-day Instructor Development Workshop to acquire the training and credentials required to teach Refuse To Be A Victim Seminars in the community.

Instructor Development Workshops are taught by Regional Counselors and begin with a Refuse To Be A Victim® Seminar. In general, seminars heighten public awareness of what can and should be done to stay safe. The workshop then focuses on the technical aspects of the program; instructor expectations; certification guidelines; speaking and presentation skills; and marketing strategies.

Cost = $125 This fee covers all classes required to become a RTBAV instructor, including the RTBAV Seminar above.

NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home

PPITH is an 8 hour course that teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

Prerequisite: Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.

NRA Instructor Personal Protection In The Home

NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home

Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home is a 14 hour course that teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.

Prerequisite: This course is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law and are of good repute and possess defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Course. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Certificate, or by passing the pre-course evaluation.
